The purpose of the community meetings and Public Hearing was to:

  • Present the Recommended Preferred Alternative

  • Present the Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS)

    • The SEIS is available to view on the project website or in hard copy at the public hearing events, South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) Headquarters, SCDOT District 6 Office, Cynthia Graham Hurd/St Andrews Regional Library, West Ashley Library, John's Island Regional Library, and James Island Library

This meeting was an open house format with ALL the Public Hearing information available so attendees could view materials and ask questions. Attendees also had the opportunity to provide a written comment or record a formal verbal comment to be played at the Public Hearing.

 
Community Meeting James Island

Community Meeting: September 1, 2021 | 4-7pm | Edisto Hall, JICP | James Island

This meeting was an open house format with ALL the Public Hearing information available so attendees could view materials and ask questions. Attendees also had the opportunity to provide a written comment or record a formal verbal comment to be played at the Public Hearing. Mention the meeting at the gate provided free entry into the park.

 
Public Hearing West Ashley

Public Hearing: September 14, 2021 | 11 am-6pm Open House, 6-7pm Formal Session | Essex Village Church | West Ashley

736 Savage Road, Charleston, SC 29414

This meeting was an open house format from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm to view project materials and ask questions. A formal verbal comment session began at 6:00 pm with the close of the open house. Those wanted to participate in the verbal comment session had to sign-up in advance to speak.

All formal comments received during the comment period will be evaluated and included in the project record. Please note, only written comments will receive a formal response. All information provided will be published and subject to disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act.

Title VI compliance: SCDOT complies with all requirements set forth by Federal regulations issued by the U.S. Department of Transportation under the Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended. Any persons who believe that he or she has been discriminated against because of race, color, religion, sex, age, handicap or disability, or nation origin under a program receiving federal aid has the right to file a complaint with SCDOT. The complaint shall be filed with the Title VI Program Compliance Coordinator, at the Office of Business Development & Special programs, 955 Park Street, Suite 117, Columbia, SC 29202 or at 803.737.5095. The complaint should be submitted no later than 180 days after the date of the alleged act of discrimination. It should outline as completely as possible the facts and circumstances of the incident and should be signed by the person making the complaint.
